Jack Radunsky Emeritus Professor of Piano, Oberlin College Conservatory
Their classes and lectures probe beyond the printed page to reveal the underlying musical meaning and architecture. They also provide specific technical concepts for realizing musical goals, increasing ease in playing, and preventing injury. Attention is also focused on the psychological factors affecting performance, practicing, and teaching. The Fees endeavor to make their classes and lectures a vital experience for everyone involved. They provide warm, patient encouragement to performers and fellow teachers. Although they have university teaching experience, the Fees have chosen to be independent teachers, and are familiar with the day-to-day challenges which confront those who teach students of all ages and ability levels. Listeners have found it especially beneficial that the Fees can present master classes and lectures jointly. This format allows the performer and auditor the opportunity to benefit from two viewpoints which are compatible, yet individual. The Fees’ approach, whether in master classes, lectures, or discussions, is not one of already having all the answers. Rather, they seek to stimulate thought and to provide tools for each participant to use in his or her own search for musical truth. The Fees are eager to share their insights through master classes, lectures, and workshops. Scheduling is flexible — from a few hours to a two-day workshop/recital combination.
